Event Description:
While the Black Church is a vital pillar of British history, its contributions beyond Sunday worship are frequently overlooked or misunderstood. Tracing the historic journey of the African Caribbean Church from the Caribbean to modern Britain, this lecture series highlights the crucial role Black women played in laying its foundations.
Based on insights from Dr. Marcia Clarke’s seminal book, Pentecostal Spirituality in Black Female Experience, these sessions reframe the Black Church not just as a religious institution, but as a movement that cultivated community resilience, economic stability, and civic purpose across generations of Black Britons.
Featuring joint presentations with producer and author Roy Francis, the tour offers a powerful exploration of memory, faith, and Black British heritage.
